Shimanami Kaidō

The Shimanami Kaidō is an iconic cycling route that connects Japan’s main island of Honshu to its neighbour, Shikoku. A beeline across the route spans 70 kilometres and six islands, although that can be readily extended with creative detours (including by ferry to smaller neighbouring islands). The roads are impeccable and the paths clearly marked by a blue line, which is helpful because of how perpetually distracted one gets by the lush scenery.
